Solo Travel: Best Places To Visit In Italy
Traveling solo I had a blast in Rome and Florence and want to share best places to visit in Italy! The biggest lesson learned was to never depend on others for directions. People in Rome gave horrible directions so I stopped asking and figured out my way while making beautiful discoveries.
The joy of solo travel is learning to listen to your gut, which told me when to get off the bus. My observations guided me and instincts kept me aware. I was proud maneuvering the streets, alleys, and buses.

Rome, Italy
It is officially illegal to sit on the Spanish Steps in Rome. A new ordinance went into effect on July 8, 2019 and people caught sitting, eating, or drinking on the steps can face fines of up to $400 euro ($450). In addition, the ordinance applies to the Trevi Fountain and other popular city sites.
Cooking in Rome
While in Rome my best experience was Walks of Italy Pasta Making, Eating and Wine Drinking Class! We learned to make fettuccine and ravioli with with the coolest, hippest Italian chefs. The aperitif and Prosecco kicked off the evening on a lovely outdoor rooftop. Beautiful ambiance with Sicilian reggae in the background. The class is held at a rooftop apartment in Piazza Navona. Great group of people from the USA attended.
Alfredo Tidbit: Italians only eat Alfredo when they’re sick, it was created by Alfredo di Lelio to help his wife feel better. Italians think it’s weird Americans adopted this meal.
It was an amazing evening of great food, company, and wine! If you’re in Rome, take this cooking class is a must.
Florence, Italy
Florence is a beautiful majestic city with a small town vibe. I absolutely adored Florence and the wonderful leather stores on every corner. I’ll definitely visit again and shop more!
