Six Reasons To Visit Budapest

Hungarian Food

Goulash at the Great Market Hall or Central Market Hall in Budapest. Eating our 3rd Hungarian traditional food dish. The Great Market Hall downstairs has fresh vegetables, meats, and fruits, and upstairs there are rows of souvenirs, restaurants, and small food court. Goulash prepared with delicious Hungarian Paprika with make your mouth water.

Eating handmade strudel in Budapest is a delicious must do! I dined at the highly recommended Reteshaz – The First Strudel House of Pest. The goulash perfectly seasoned with paprika, vegetables, and tender chunks of beef reminds me of stew. The handmade apple strudel is the best I’ve tasted. In this video, you can see the strudel preparation and how it’s delicately prepared. This, amazingly artful process have you wondering, “How does this happen without tearing the dough?”

If you’re visiting Budapest, you have to eating Langos. Surprisingly, it was good with sour cream and cheese. This sour cream tasted much better than the brands in the United States.

Thermal Baths & Spa

Gellert Thermal Bath & Spa soothes your body in a relaxing atmosphere and the wave pool is fun.  Budapest is one of my favorite places and I plan to try every last thermal bath. Széchenyi Thermal Bath is another popular thermal bath and awesome place to spend the day.

Maraget Island has an awesome water show and a variety activities for adults and kids. Have a picnic, ride your bike, or enjoy a beautiful view along the Danube River. There is something for everyone on Margaret Island.

Ruin Bars

Szimpla Kert is the first and most iconic ruin bar in Budapest. People travel from all around the world to experience Budapest nightlife of ruin bars or ruin pubs. Ruin bars were built in the early 2000’s from abandoned buildings and vacant lots left after World War II in the Jewish Quarters.

The bars are artsy, open-air gardens, furnished with quirky mix-matched thrift furniture, which makes it fun and fascinating. They have a unique hipster vibe. A must visit on your trip to Budapest, Hungary. This video lists the Top 10 Ruin Pubs or Ruin Bars in Budapest.

Danube River Cruise

Budapest is magical at night and a Danube River Night Cruise is the perfect way to see Buda and Pest glow. You see popular landmarks along the cruise and in this video, I’ll share tips to help you plan your visit. Széchenyi Thermal Bath is pronounced SAY-chehn-yee. I mixed up the name but it’s one of the most popular baths in Budapest and a great place to relax.

Learn Hungarian

Do you know how to pronounce Budapest? I love learning languages and asked our server to help me learn basic Hungarian phrases and greetings such as “Thank You” and “Hello,” and how to say Budapest correctly. Politeness makes it easier to connect with locals. Basic Hungarian phrases and words for travelers in Hungarian go a long way.

Dinner at The Big Fish was delicious and one the best places to eat! Excellent customer service and the food was fresh to order. Amazing ambiance with a fantastic music selection. The meal was so scrumptious I ate there twice.
