ONE DAY IN BRUSSELS ITINERARY

One Day in Brussels Itinerary: 10 Best Things To Do

I had the pleasure of taking a solo day trip to Brussels from Paris. I caught the Thalys from Gare du Nord around 7:00 AM and arrived in Brussels at 9:00 AM. It’s a cozy and calm train ride and I met a lovely lady from Brussels who helped me practice French. She made sure I was set to explore the city with my one day in Brussels itinerary.

Hop-On Hop-Off Bus

The Hop-On Hop-Off Bus is a great way to sightsee if attractions are spread around the city and your time is limited. I planned my itinerary and knew the bus was the best time saving option to tour the city in one day.

Chocolate Factory Tour

Belgium is known for their delicious chocolate and it didn’t disappoint. The Chocolate Factory tour explain the history of chocolate making and we lets you watch fresh chocolate being made. Even better, you get to taste an assortment of chocolates!

Grand Place

The Grand Place is the iconic central square of Brussels surrounded by the town hall, monuments, churches, shops, and restaurants. It’s considered one of the most beautiful squares in Europe.

Manneken Pis

The Manneken Pis is a bronze fountain sculpture located in central Brussels not far from the Grand Place. Magazines tell you it’s a must see but I thought the sculpture was full size. To my surprise, it’s a tiny boy at 61 cm! You must see it for yourself and record your reaction.

Belgian Waffles

You can’t visit Brussels without eating their scrumptious waffles! The waffles are made to order for one euro and you pay extra for toppings. The best waffles I’ve ever tasted because the whip cream was real, fresh cream. Watch as they make your waffles for an amazing treat.

Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert

The gorgeous Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert is one of the first shopping arcades built in Europe. It’s a stunning pathway of luxurious boutiques and chocolate shops that stimulate all senses.

Atomium Park

Atomium is a landmark building in Brussels that was originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair. It looks futuristic and feels like outer space surrounded by a beautiful park away from the central square. While you’re there you can visit Mini Europe, a miniature park representing around 80 cities.

Eglise Notre Dame de Laeken

The Eglise Notre Dame de Laeken was built in the 19th century and is dedicated to the first Queen of the Belgians, Louis-Marie, and it houses the Royal Crypt.

Self-Guided Walking Tour

You can take a self-guided walking tour through central square. Stop by the information center located in the Grand Place to pick up a map. Central Brussels is a great place to explore and stroll freely to discover the most marvelous chocolate shops, restaurants, landmarks, and boutiques.

Belgian Frites

Frites are more than fries in Belgium. They are a delicacy and if you have a one day in Brussels itinerary, you must have frites and sauce. I don’t smother my frites but the sauce on the side is tasty.
