If you’re planning a trip to Vietnam, chances are Da Nang is already on your list. It has become one of the country’s most popular destinations, and after living here for over three years, I understand why so many travelers fall in love with this city.

Da Nang has a little bit of everything: beautiful beaches, delicious food, mountains, a relaxed pace of life, and easy access to places like Hoi An. What I love most about Da Nang is that it doesn’t feel like just a vacation destination. It’s a city where you can slow down, explore different neighborhoods, and experience everyday life in Vietnam.

Because Da Nang has become such a popular destination, I recommend booking your accommodation early, especially during peak travel seasons. The best hotels and apartments in the most convenient areas can fill up quickly.

In this guide on where to stay in Da Nang, I’ll break down the best neighborhoods for different types of travelers, from beach lovers and first-time visitors to digital nomads and those looking for a quieter escape. I’ll also share hotels I’ve personally stayed at, along with places I would recommend based on my years of living here.

1. Best Hotels in My Khe Beach

This is the classic Da Nang beach strip, and for most visitors, especially first-time visitors, it’s the easiest place to stay. You’re just steps from the sand, surrounded by restaurants and beach bars, and only a short Grab ride from the Han River and Da Nang’s famous bridges.

A stylish beachfront hotel with modern rooms, rooftop pools, and beautiful views of My Khe Beach. It’s an excellent choice if you want an upscale stay in the heart of the beach district.

2. An Thuong: Best Area for Cafes, Restaurants, and Expat District

An Thuong is one of the most popular areas to stay in Da Nang, especially for first-time visitors who want to be close to My Khe Beach. It’s packed with cafés, restaurants, bars, and convenience stores, so everything you need is within walking distance.

The neighborhood also has a large expat and digital nomad community, giving it a lively, international feel. Because of its popularity, it can be busy and a bit noisy, especially in the evenings. I’ve spent a lot of time here, so I know the area well, but if you’re looking for a quieter stay, you may prefer another part of the city.

Charming Beauty Hotel

I’ve stayed here numerous times, and the staff genuinely knows me by now. It’s about three blocks from the beach, right in the heart of An Thuong, so you’re within walking distance of cafes, restaurants, and the beach. If you’re looking for a reliable, budget-friendly hotel in the middle of the action, this is my go-to recommendation.

Golden Lotus Grand Hotel

If you’re looking for a comfortable stay with friendly service, Golden Lotus Grand Hotel is a solid choice. It’s within walking distance of cafés, restaurants, and My Khe Beach, making it easy to enjoy everything An Thuong has to offer. I stayed here for a month and the staff were amazing. When I was sick they checked on me and made sure I was nourished daily.

Pullman Danang Beach Resort

If you’re looking for a true beachfront resort experience, Pullman Danang Beach Resort is one of the city’s top luxury options. Set on a quieter stretch of My Khe Beach, it offers spacious rooms, lush tropical gardens, multiple dining options, and a large outdoor pool. While it feels like a relaxing retreat, you’re still only a short Grab ride from An Thuong’s cafes, restaurants, and nightlife, making it a great choice if you want the best of both worlds.

3. My Favorite Neighborhood to Stay: Han River / City Center

If you want to be closer to the action, the bridges, night markets, and a more “real city” feel, staying near the Han River puts you right in the middle of it. This is Hai Chau territory, with easy access to Han Market, Dragon Bridge, the Pink Cathedral, and the riverside restaurant scene. I’ve personally stayed at all three of these hotels, and this might be my favorite area in the whole city.

Right in the heart of Hai Chau, M Village is steps from the Pink Cathedral and Han Market. It has a clean, modern boutique feel with a genuinely walkable location to the riverfront, making it one of my favorite stays in this area.

Central, modern, and close enough to walk to the Han River and Dragon Bridge. I love the consistency you get from a trusted brand here, and the location makes exploring the city center effortless. Every time I return to Da Nang, I stay at Tru by Hilton, and the staff always welcomes me like family.

If you’re looking for a quieter, more scenic side of Da Nang, Son Tra Peninsula is the place to stay. This area is known for mountain views, lush surroundings, the Lady Buddha statue, and a slower pace compared to the beach and city center. It’s not the best choice if you want to walk to cafés and restaurants, but it’s perfect for a peaceful getaway if you have transportation or don’t mind using Grab.

The name that comes up again and again when people talk about luxury in Da Nang. Perched on the Son Tra Peninsula, this iconic resort is known for its private beach, incredible architecture, and exceptional service. If you want a true luxury escape or a special splurge during your time in Da Nang, this is the one.

Is Da Nang worth visiting?

Absolutely. Da Nang is one of my favorite cities in Vietnam. You can spend your days relaxing on the beach, exploring the mountains, visiting the Marble Mountains, or taking an easy day trip to Hoi An. The main thing to consider is the weather. Rainy season typically runs from October through mid-February, while February through September offers the best conditions for most travelers. Just be prepared for hot, humid weather during the summer months.

What’s the best area to stay in Da Nang for first-time visitors?

It depends on the type of trip you want. If you want to be close to the beach, restaurants, and cafés, My Khe Beach or An Thuong are excellent choices. If you prefer a more local city experience with easy access to markets, the Han River, and nightlife, Hai Chau is a great option. The good news is that Grab is inexpensive, so it’s easy to explore the city no matter where you stay.

Is Da Nang safe?

Yes. As a solo traveler, I’ve always felt safe in Da Nang. I’ve walked around during the day and at night, including through quieter streets, without any problems. Like anywhere, it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings and use common sense, but overall I find Da Nang to be one of the safest cities I’ve visited.

How many days should I spend in Da Nang?

I recommend at least five to seven days. That gives you enough time to enjoy the beaches, explore the city, visit the Marble Mountains, and take a day trip to Hoi An without feeling rushed.

This has been home for me for nearly four years, and I’ve learned that where you stay in Da Nang can completely shape your experience. Each neighborhood has its own personality, so choosing the right one can make your trip even more enjoyable.

I understand why first-timers and beach lovers might choose to stay in An Thuong. I stayed there for a while myself. There are plenty of Western restaurants, nightlife, and you can easily walk to the beach. But now, I prefer staying outside of An Thuong, in a calmer neighborhood on the city side or in Son Tra.

Da Nang, Vietnam is well worth exploring. From the scrumptious food and coffee culture to the friendly people and diverse landscapes, it’s a destination I keep coming back to and have the pleasure of calling home.
