13 Best Things To Do In Phoenix

Phoenix Art Museum

When visiting a new city, I always tour the art museum. The Phoenix Art Museum collections are Asian, European, and Latin America in a modern museum. It’s a beautiful museum with extraordinary and unique exhibits.

Dobbins Point

For a great view of Phoenix head to Dobbins Point or Lookout. You won’t be disappointed with the beautiful skyline. The drive up with steep curves made me queasy but it’s worth the overlook. You can see the rain from a distance and we made it down just in time.

Matt’s Big Breakfast

I ate my way through Phoenix! Matt’s Big Breakfast hit the spot to start a long hot day. It’s a popular restaurant and we waited 30 minutes for a table.

The food was worth the wait and service was great.

Musical Instrument Museum

Phoenix museums are first rate. The Musical Instrument Museum is a spectacular gallery of instruments, concert footage, performance outfits linked to world-renowned musicians and innovators.

Instruments are organized by regions of the world. It’s dynamic, educational and fun! You get to test the instruments and groove to the sounds.

Pueblo Grande Museum

The Pueblo Grande Museum and archaeological park is amazing. It offers an overview of the Hohoham people, their environment, agriculture, architecture, arts, food, and trail. The mound is the original site preserved but the homes are replicas. The wide square is where they played games throwing small hard balls that would knock you out. You can’t walk the trail without an umbrella or you too will be part of the archaeological dig.

Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is a great place to eat in downtown Phoenix.

Heard Museum

The Heard Museum is a fascinating oasis sharing the arts and culture of the Native peoples of the Americas. It also features the Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera exhibit!

It’s a beautiful museum and must visit.

Rosson House Museum

The Rosson House Museum at Heritage Square was delightful. It’s across the street from ASU in the last surviving residential block from turn of the century Phoenix. It’s a beautiful historic home. The size of the women waists back then even with a corset was absurd. They had to survive off of air sauce and wind pudding.

The old stoves and washing machine are so cool!

Forno 301

The bartender at my hotel, FOUND:RE, recommended dinner at Forno 301 and it was superb! It was authentically delicious fresh Italian made from scratch. Cute, cozy ambiance with excellent service and sweet sounds of music.

Downtown Phoenix

I traveled to Phoenix in July because I found a $100 roundtrip ticket. I figured I would manage the heat by touring indoor sights and taking precautions outside. Phoenix has a dry hot heat during the day and evening. It was extremely hot and I had to stop along the way, but I enjoyed my walk and intriguing discoveries. When I felt too hot, I stopped in an office building and security gave me a freezing cold bottle of water. He could tell I wasn’t use to this desert heat!

Desota Central Market

The Desota Central Market is a cute, artsy industrial restaurant hall down the street from my hotel, FOUND:RE, on Roosevelt Row. It’s a delightful spot for lunch.

Fez

Fez was located next to my amazing hotel, FOUND:RE, and recommended by the staff. It was scrumptiously delicious with a fresh and spicy cashew chicken and beef entree. Phoenix food scene is the best and I enjoyed every meal.

Cheers to the tasty pomegranate margarita!

Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles

Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles has a reputation for amazing food and I can confirm that it’s true! It was on my list to try while in Phoenix and it was scrumptious. The service was excellent and the food taste like down home. I enjoyed this meal to the fullest and highly recommend if you want some good soul food.
