Afro-Atlantic Histories: National Gallery of Art

The National Gallery of Art features the phenomenal Afro-Atlantic Histories until July 17, 2022. The exhibit thoroughly looks at the cultural formations and historical experiences of Black and African people since the 17th century. You’ll see more than 130 pieces of art, including photos, sculptures, paintings and other media by artists from the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, and the Americas.

It’s the weekend baby and here are three of my favorite events happening in the District!

1️⃣ Thai Restaurant Week

It’s Spring, Let’s Eat Thai Restaurant Week starts April 9-17 in the D.C. metro area. The Royal Thai Embassy has a list of participating restaurants and details on how you can share your Thai food experience to win air tickets to Thailand and many more prizes! I’ll be hitting up my favorite Thai spots to celebrate and enter the contest.

2️⃣ Sakura Matsuri – Japanese Street Festival

Celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Sakura Matsuri – Japanese Street Festival and grand finale of the National Cherry Blossom Festival on April 9-10 in downtown DC on Pennsylvania Avenue.

3️⃣ White House Spring Garden Tour 

The White House Spring Garden Tour is your chance to attend one of the loveliest spring events held on April 9-10. The White House Gardens are gorgeous!

Free, timed tickets are distributed at a National Park Service tent located near the Ellipse Visitors Pavilion each day beginning at 8:30 AM on a first-come first-served basis.

The Black Rock Super Hero Marketplace – February 20, 2022

Come out and join the Queen of DC as I host “The Black Rock Star Super Hero” Marketplace at 3 Stars Brewing Company on Sunday, February 20th 1:00 – 6:00pm.
Don’t miss this wonderful event and Black History Month celebration! I’ll love to meet you and share good vibes and energy.
